Favorite Marijuana Recipes: Cannabis Coconut Oil

Cannabis Coconut Oil

Cannabis coconut oil is the most versatile of weed edibles in existence. This is because all marijuana recipes call for the use of an infused butter or oil, of which coconut oil is a popular medium. Furthermore, you can use it to make other products too, including oil-based sprays, beauty products, even medicated sipping cocoa. Its myriad of uses makes this the most sought after item of all.

Coconut oil is, without doubt, the most commonly used infusion in the cannabis market. Firstly, it is extremely healthy for you, as it has one of the highest concentrations of essential fatty acids, or saturated fats, known to man. These fatty acids act as a powerful binding agent for cannabinoids. Olive oil, for example, has less than 20 percent saturated fat, whereas coconut oil has more than 80 percent.

For this reason, coconut oil has the ability to retain significantly more cannabinoids during the extraction process, making it notably more effective for medical and health purposes. Of all the mediums you can use to infuse marijuana, coconut oil outperforms them all. When making cannabis coconut oil, not only will you have the most potent, healthiest weed edibles possible, but you will have the tastiest ones too.

Preparation Time: 8 or 9 Hours

Ingredients

Coconut oil is possibly the easiest medium to work with when infusing cannabis for weed edibles. Aside from coconut oil being inexpensive and available anywhere, the decarboxylation and infusion process itself needs only a few ingredients. Using coconut oil is also very easy to do in your own kitchen at home, and it requires minimal effort in comparison to other mediums. It also stores very well.

  • 1 Cup Ground Cannabis Buds, less for milder potency
  • 1 Cup Coconut Oil
  • Cheesecloth or Strainer
  • A Hand Grinder, not pulverizing blenders that grind weed too finely
  • Slow Cooker, Double Boiler or Large Saucepan

Method

  1. Grind your weed. You want it coarsely ground and not too small. You can grind the whole plant if you want, or just the buds or you can mix them together. Your choice. Just remember that if pieces are small enough to pass through your strainer, they will end up in your final product and affect the taste of your weed edibles. Make sure you do not grind it too finely.
  2. Combine cannabis and coconut oil in your slow cooker or double boiler, and warm on the lowest heat setting for four to six hours in a slow cooker, or six to eight hours in a double boiler. If using a big saucepan, simmer on low for at least three hours, stirring often. Regardless of what you use, always add a little water to prevent burning, and never allow the temperature of the oil to exceed 245 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Strain the oil through a cheesecloth or strainer. If using cheesecloth, do not squeeze the excess, as this will increase the concentration of chlorophyll in your oil, which will make it taste bitter. Throw away the leftover plant material, or if you are brave enough, use it in other dishes.
  4. Store the oil in a glass jar or container and keep it in your refrigerator, shaking every week or so. It will last at least six months there.

Popular Uses for Cannabis Coconut Oil

Once you have your weed-infused coconut oil, you can play around with its almost endless uses. You can combine it with aloe and beeswax if you want to make your own marijuana topical. You could use it instead of normal oil in any recipe you desire, as it is perfect for any infused dishes. You can even use it as a lubricant in bed, but beware; coconut oil has a tendency to weaken condoms.

You can make infused teas, lattes, smoothies, any beverage you can think of, or you can make dosing easier by filling capsules with your new infusion. This versatile oil will stay popular for time immemorial. As more brands innovate, infused coconut oil products will likely take center stage. If you would rather buy it than spend a day making it, then you can order it from an online Marijuana dispensary.
